FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which cell phones does Mondo support?
A: All phones that support Java MIDP 2.0 and have a screen resolution larger than 176 pixles in width. This means in practice that all phones that were bought since 2005 and onwards are supported. A list of mobiles we have tested can be found here.

Q: How can I know if I Mondo works on my phone in advance?
A: You can't. You simply have try: Just fill in your phone number and you'll receive a text message. The system will then automatically recognize which phone model you have and if it is supported. If it isn't you will get the text message "Sorry - your phone does not support Mondo". If it does support it, you will get a text message - "Please click on the link below to download Mondo".

Q: What do I do if nothing happens when I click on the download link in the text message?
A: Check whether you have a working Internet connection by opening a web browser in your phone. Try to copy or retype the link (URL) in the browser directly. If it works you will get the question "Download Mondo. Conintue ....?

Q: Where is the Mondo application saved in the phone?
A: Under the Program/Applications folder provided you haven't saved it somewhere else like under Games.

Q: How much does it cost to use Mondo?
A: The application is free. All content in the mondos is also free. You only pay for the data according to your subscription with your Wireless Operator.

Q: How much data does Mondo consume?
A: If you actively use the Mondo application for 30 minutes per day (which is the equivalent to "waking up" the phone 150-200 times), it will consume 180 KB per day. (compare this to using a web browser to get the same content just one time: 1 MB!). This does not include data consumed "outside" of the Mondo application, e.g. when you click on a link that goes to an external web site.

Q: How much does the data communication cost when I use Mondo?
A: Again, it depends on your subscription with your Wireless Operator. Some operators have flate rates (e.g. SEK 199 per month) and some have max rates e.g. SEK 9 per day. Otherwise 1 MB is about SEK 10-15. Check with your operator if you are not sure.

Q: Do I have to have a 3G phone to use Mondo?
A: No. A normal GSM phone that supports GPRS works just fine as long as it has a working Internet connection. 3G just has a faster bit rate than GPRS. The bit rate does not, however, affect the performance of Mondo - it works independantly of bit rate.

Q: What happens if I don't have an Internet connection in my phone?
A: You will then have to contact your operator and request them to activate an Internet account for you. Ask them to send you the settings via a text message. After that you're all set to use Mondo!

Q: How "heavy" is the Mondo application (file size)?
A: About 260 KB

Q: Will I be able to use other, new mondos?
A: Yes. The Mondo application will automatically ask for updates and you will be asked to download a new version.

»Mondo has presented an interesting solution where we take one step closer the user, which differs a lot from similar applications. It will be very intresting to follow the development in the test phase and see how the product is received by the users.»
